Best Seat in the House
Bauhaus Media Delivers Commencement Ceremonies to Online Audience
Finally, the time has come for students at 14 San Antonio Independent School District high schools to graduate. The Alamo Stadium complex provides an ideal venue, with staging and smaller ceremonies in the convocation center, while the larger schools commence in the actual stadium
But this year is a little different, with pandemic concerns; and even though many people can and did attend in person – some masked, some not – many preferred to play it safe and stay away. And as always, not everyone is able to travel or is mobile enough to attend the ceremonies. So, this year, the commencement exercises were all livestreamed, making it possible for friends and family to watch from anywhere on their cell phones, computers or television sets.
Bauhaus Media Group provided some equipment and a lot of expertise to the project. And along with SAISD audio-visual employees and student interns, every interested person was provided with the best seat in the house. Those in the stadium had the live view and closeups broadcast on the jumbo screen, along with premium audio and a clear view of a signer for deaf and hearing impaired.
Those who preferred or needed to watch remotely, could watch the program live, or come back later to watch the entire program, in full. When you consider the limited capacities of venues and the fact that not everyone who is interested is able to get to the venue, whether because of distance, time or physical disability, it makes you wonder why all commencement ceremonies aren’t presented this way.
Students may also capture and keep their entire graduation ceremony, and those of friends in other schools. It’s a great example of inclusiveness in this modern, technological world.
