Casting Call

So Much Talent, So Little Time!

Sometimes the pressure is on someone else. This is why auditions are so much fun: We get to relax and judge others. Just kidding. We take auditions very seriously. But the pressure is truly on the talent to step up and show us what they can deliver, under the lights and in front of the camera.

Often, we may be looking for a spokesperson for a company or product. Other times, we may be looking for just the right host for a TV program. That was the case this week, as we had put out a casting call for a host. Applications came in from far and wide; and after careful review, we chose eight to invite in for a casting session. Of those eight, six actually confirmed appointments.

We developed a variety of short scripts, setup the studio for a one-camera shoot, and invited the applicants in at 30-minute intervals to get it all done in one day. From that field, we hope to choose one or two potential hosts for an internet lifestyle program that will involve a wide variety of topics, including local entertainment, cuisine and politics.

An important thing to note is that the people who come in for these auditions are all good, so it’s our job to sort through the recordings to find the right fit for whatever project we are working on. Some have news reporting experience, others acting and other performance background.
