Our Story

Our award-winning staff has over 75 years combined experience in film and video production. Our professionals are highly adaptable, bilingual, and able to meet your various objectives.
Bauhaus is our name and our philosophy. It stems from the renowned German school of art that focused on “Form Follows Function.” This could be the beginning of a very long, philosophical discussion; but, to you, Bauhaus means efficiency and effectiveness. It means we will produce the best product for you, in the most timely and cost-effective way.
While still a photography student, Dutch videographer Eric Hanken was inspired by the Bauhaus movement. As he moved on into “moving” pictures while working for Dutch TV, Hanken embraced the Bauhaus philosophy and by 1988 had established a video production company with the name Bauhaus Media Group in San Antonio, Texas.
“True quality comes not so much in the ability to point and shoot a device, as in the ability to use the medium to effectively tell a story, evoke emotion and motivate the viewer to take an action,” Hanken said. “The Bauhaus advantage is our experience and storytelling ability.”
He found success in collaboration with local advertising giants like Jim Anderson and Lionel Sosa, and association with large organizations such as H-E-B, University of the Incarnate Word, UTSA, AT&T, Holt Cat, Toyota, the U.S. Air Force and Marines and many others. He also has contributed his skills to many political campaigns, including those of both George H.W. and George W. Bush, Ron Nirenberg, Mitt Romney, and the governor of Puerto Rico.
