SAISD Crosses Real with Virtual
Bauhaus Team Brings High-Tech Solutions to Community Events
Community is a big part of the experience for families with students in the San Antonio Independent School District. So, when health concerns threatened to prevent grandma’s, uncles, cousins and friends from seeing high school graduates walk the stage, the SAISD audio-visual department called Bauhaus Media.
Not only graduation, but events like the Fiesta Mariachi Festival, needed to be streamed to home audiences. Multiple cameras, along with specialized equipment like the tricaster, were needed to composite and separate signals to broadcast the live action onto the big screen at Alamo Stadium for the live audience, complete with signing for the deaf. Simultaneously, the program needed to be streamed live for friends and family to watch on their computers, TVs, laptops, tablets and cell phones.
Indoor and outdoor setups, along with closeup and wide shots captured the full rehearsal experience this week for students of Burbank, Highlands, Edison, Jefferson, Brackenridge, Fox Tech, Lanier, CAST Tech and Houston high schools, along with graduates of the Advanced Learning Academy, St. Philip’s College Early College High School, Travis Early College High School, Cooper Academy, and the Young Women’s Leadership Academy.
Next week, it will be the real deal, complete with robes and family in the grandstands. The full schedule can be found here: https://www.saisd.net/page/dis-graduation-ceremonies-2021
