Shooting a Pilot

Bauhaus Crew Enjoys a Cultural Field Day

It could have been a teambuilding exercise when the Bauhaus crew spent the day shooting a pilot program last Thursday. Our vision is for a community-based show which we will distribute on the enormous social media network of the San Antonio Current. It will be Current-like, in terms of its segments, but unique in its content. The segments we came up with are politics, entertainment, cooking and a focus on non-profit organizations.

The day began in the Bauhaus Studios with producer Michael Chartier interviewing former assistant district attorney Deborah Sandheinrich on race and money in our criminal justice system. As a progressive vs. a conservative, the rhetoric got lively until we finally had to call time on the two. They raised some great points.

So, after that heated discussion, it was great that a therapeutic cooking segment was scheduled next. The concept is to go into people’s homes and let them show us a recipe that has family or other special meaning to them. On this day, we were in the home of Shannon Gillenwater, who showed us how he prepares paella. One may wonder how anything with lobster tail, shrimp and clams could be anything but excellent, but Shannon brought a special understanding and a loving touch to his preparation. Our hostess, Danielle Ojeda could not have been more delighted.

Her favorite part was being the first to taste it. We say “first” because the crew left little behind.

So, that took care of lunch, and we were ready for some fun. Our afternoon started with a colorful and wonderous visit to Alice’s Wonderland… But, no, it was actually called the Wonder Chamber. Danielle was right at home in this Instragram-lover’s paradise. Owner Robbie Sanchez gave us run of the place, and we got a few colorful shots.

The day ended with a heartwarming visit with pups and kitties at the Animal Defense League’s Paul Jolly Center for Pet Adoption. This no-kill adoption facility resembles a high-end resort for felines and canines. The animal-loving staff provides loving care and an ideal place for people to find the perfect pet to bring into their home.

Ultimately, it was a great day and we have a lot of good material to work with. We are considering adding one more segment, which will be a man-on-the-street interview segment with Gary Cooper. More on that later.
