Street Talking
Bauhaus Crew Hits the Streets to Find Out What’s Up
We’ve talked here before about Bauhaus Media Group’s community program, The Spot, which is in development. We will soon be offering sponsorships for it, but for now we’re still fine tuning the content. The four main content areas are community, local cuisine, entertainment, and politics. We had also talked about incorporating “man on the street” interviews.
Having cast our hosts, Danielle Ojeda and Gary Cooper, we shot our pilot segments with Danielle, knowing we needed to figure out how we were going to use our seasoned journalist, Gary Cooper. We could bring him in for any of the spots, but it seemed obvious that he was our guy for the street interviews.
So, how would street interviews fit in? How would we use them? Perhaps for humor. Perhaps to accentuate the more serious segments. Perhaps both. It was decided we needed to ask a variety of questions: Something to fit with each segment, and then some stand-alone questions, incorporating humor. But our humor would not be at the expense of the ambushed interviewees, as is sometimes done. Our questions would be amusing, in and of themselves, so we could all laugh together.
“Makeup Fiesta” was going on when we set out to do the interviews, so we knew there’d be no shortage of people to talk to. We tried some river level and some street level positions, and everyone we encountered was in a good mood and happy to chat. Fiesta 2020 had been cancelled and Fiesta 2021, usually held in April, had been postponed til June, so folks were happy to be out.
The result was a nice cache of responses from a variety of people. All in fun. And we hope to make the best of them available to you soon on social media. Stay tuned.
