Video Documents 150th Anniversary
Testimonials Tell Story of Service
What better way to tell your story than through the very words of those who love and sustain you every day of the year? That’s what the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Southwest Texas did in ceebration of their 150th anniversary.
They brought together all their friends and family for a gala on Saturday, October 30, at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church Jubilee Hall. As the many Vincentians broke bread together and heard stories of their shared experiences of serving the poor, a highlight of the evening was a short video which documented their work through testimonials.
Speakers in the video included St. Vincent de Paul leaders and volunteers, as well as church and community leaders who have collaborated with the society to provide food, housing, clothing… and friendship to people going through difficult times.
The video proved a warm and welcoming way to include the many voices at the gala, and also preserve them for posterity. Ideally, the 150th anniversary video will remain available to everyone who visits the St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Texas website. And there it will remain a lasting memento of 150 years of service.
