Historical Novel Society Provides “Tour” of Historic San Antonio

Showing off the beautiful and unique history of San Antonio is a privilege we got to enjoy when the Historical Novel Society engaged Bauhaus Media Group to videotape content for their annual conference. Still dealing with pandemic concerns about international travel, the society decided to hold its conference virtually. This provided an unusual opportunity to put together an entire program on video for conference chair Jenny Quinlan.

Venue chair Christine Trent talked with Dr. Vincent Michael, executive director of The Conservation Society of San Antonio at the Guenther House and other historic sites, such as the Alamo, Steve’s Homestead, Travis Park, San Fernanda Cathedral and the Spanish Governor’s Palace.

The video segments were used as content for the virtual conference and will be used again to promote the 2023 conference, which will again be held in San Antonio, bringing about 600 attendees to the River City. On alternate years, the conference is held in the United Kingdom.

In addition to discussions about historic sites, segments include local color, such as mariachis in Travis Park.

When it was time for a break, the crew ended up at The Modernist. Drinking is history, too, after all. In a segment called “Hooch through History” master bartender/owner Olaf Harmel demonstrated the making of a Rum Fustian, which does not actually include rum.
